The event was nicely organized - you got a program, detailing the different donut/coffee vendors, and they also had some games set up for the kids (donut ring toss anyone?) along with plenty of photo props.
You can make it as simple or in depth as you want - you could either simply get a box of assorted donuts from one place (the kiddos could vote on their favorite that way - chocolate vs. maple, filled versus regular, etc) OR, you could put a little more legwork into it and grab donuts from several different places (Krispy Kreme, Dunkin Donuts, local grocery stores, etc). Cut them up into 1/4s (or even 1/6s for kiddos) and stick a toothpick in - lay them all out, and let the sampling begin!!
At the end, have everyone vote for their favorite! Kiddos get especially excited about voicing their opinion on this, even if it's simply writing down a word like "chocolate" on a scrap piece of paper.
A few notes - let the kiddos get into the decorations. You can take those cheap thin white paper plates, cut out the center, and have the little people decorate them to look like donuts! They can even make other crafts, like photo props, silly donut glasses, etc. Also, don't forget to have some fun with the drinks! Coffee for the adults naturally, but also hot chocolate, milk, OJ...
And seriously, make sure you get a maple bacon donut into the sampling mix - it sounds a little strange, I get it - but you've gotta at least try it. (And yes, I am open to attend meetings for bacon addicts should you locate a group near me.)
So if you need a unique dessert idea for your next game night, or a fun idea to host for your kid's next sleepover, try this! I promise you it will make your face happy. :)
