I can't believe these Christmas Cookie Trees existed before Pinterest, but it's true - I have been making these Christmas desserts every single year with my mom since I was a little child, and now I make them every year with her and my own daughter. These do take a bit of prep work, but they are so cute when they're finished! This year we made "mini trees" (about half the size they usually are) since we had so many to make: The ingredients/supplies you need: sugar cookie dough, green food coloring, various sizes of star-shaped cookie cutters, frosting, and skittles. The prep work (making the cookie dough, dyeing it, rolling it out, cutting the stars, and baking) takes some time, so I would advise breaking this project into 2 separate days. One day to do the "work" and the next day for the "fun" of decorating it! Basically you just frost each cookie and "stack" them on top of each other in criss-cross fashion - largest stars on bottom then layering the smaller ones on top. For this small tree I only used 5 different sizes (2 cookies for each layer) but if you're making a big tree, you can use more! Now for the Skittles, my mom always insisted every year that purple is NOT a Christmas color, so she would make us eat all of the purple ones before we started. I don't necessarily agree that it's not a holiday color, but I like to keep with the tradition of eating them all simply because it's fun and tasty!

AuthorI love writing romance novels, editing other people's novels, planning parties (heavy on the theme food!) and watching movies. Cooking has also become a passion of mine (because you can't have a proper party without food!) and I love finding new hobbies when I can squeeze them in. Archives
