I have wanted a beverage cart for ages now, so I finally made it happen. We do a lot of entertaining (in case you haven't noticed from all of my prior theme party posts!) and I've always wanted ONE specific area for drinks. Granted, I still use coolers for beer/wine, pop, juice boxes, etc. But I wanted a cute area where I could set up the rest (red wines, specific party glasses, etc). So, I finally have a cart! Now everywhere you look (blogs, pinterest, home improvement DIY books, etc) they always say "you can pick up an old beverage cart for $10-$15 at a thrift store!" Yeah, not in my world. I couldn't find any cute old used ones (or ANY for that matter) in any thrift store in my area. So good luck to you on that. Even a small metal one at Target was over $120. Not happening. So I know this one is a little too matchy-matchy with my outdoor furniture, but hey, my options were limited and it actually looks okay where I keep it (NOT right up against the furniture! :) Here's an example of what I was originally looking for: I saw this one in a cute little hipster hotel in California - yeah, but those go for $200 trendy refurbishing stores. The husband wasn't going for that. So instead for $45, I got this one from Ross (still expensive IMO for what it is, but I had to have it). So the first thing I did, on a weeknight - with no guests over mind you (<-- loser) I had to play around with it! (Forgive me for the lack of décor here, this was just practice! :) So.... I'm still working on perfecting the layout, as you can see... but my next party is next WEEK! Can't wait to use it! A few ideas to modify a beverage cart into a more one-of-a-kind item: if you get a wood/metal cart, you can cover the shelves in chalkboard paint - that would be a fun way to label the wines! You could also add cute custom curtains to the bottom part of the cart if you wanted a hidden area for storage. You could also add hooks underneath the top shelf for hanging tea cups, or wine bottle holders. Or you could turn it into a complete coffee station. I am so excited to play around with this for the next few parties to see what I can do with it. More pics to come! :)
