So I know, summer doesn't exactly scream "Football Season!" but when a boy loves football as much as my 5 year old, you throw him a football party anyway. Lucky for me, I knew he wanted to have a football themed party months ago, so I actually took advantage of all those day-after-Superbowl discounts. I got all of the paper products, table clothes, and football themed dishes for 50%-90% off! (And I can reuse them all again in the fall when it's actually football season! Score!!) I always start party planning with the desserts. I can't help it. It's one of my favorite things to make, I can do them a few days ahead of time so I'm not overly stressed about it, and they are always devoured at every party. My biggest party hack - I completely cheat on all of my desserts by using store-bought items. Sure, everyone loves homemade cookies, but when I'm also cooking for 60 people, I have to cut a few corners. So I bought brownie bites and piped laces on them, jersey numbers for the rice krispy treats, and I shaped oatmeal pie sandwich cookies into football shapes and piped the laces on them. Easy! The kids loved them! The food was basically "stadium food" - brats and dogs, a nacho bar, pretzels with cheese sauce, etc. I printed off a free printable football banner (thank you Google!) and printed off a bunch of pictures of Bears football players to decorate the tables with. The cake was just a bunch of chocolate cupcakes put together to look like a football. Here's a pic of the happy football boy!

AuthorI love writing romance novels, editing other people's novels, planning parties (heavy on the theme food!) and watching movies. Cooking has also become a passion of mine (because you can't have a proper party without food!) and I love finding new hobbies when I can squeeze them in. Archives
